Myomectomy is a surgery that removes one or more myomas. It is a treatment option for women who have large masses in their uterus caused by benign tumors. The surgery is performed under general anesthesia and takes between 30 minutes and two hours to complete. There are three types of myomectomy treatment procedure in Turkey. The first type is laparoscopic myomectomy, a minimally invasive surgery which is done through small incisions behind the navel. The second type is abdominal myomectomy, a traditional open surgery which is often complex but can result in a quicker recovery. The last type of myomectomy treatment procedure is hysteroscopic myomectomy which uses small instruments (scope) to reach the uterus through vagina and cervix and remove the myoma using a wire loop.
