The first step in determining if you are eligible for a heart transplant is to find out if your condition meets the criteria set by the German health care system. In order to be eligible for a heart transplant in Germany, you must meet the following requirements: 

1. You must be 18 years of age or older. 

2. You must have a serious heart condition that is causing you to experience difficulty breathing, chest pain, or other problems. 

3. You must be in good overall health, both physically and mentally. 

4. You must be able to undergo surgery and post-operative care without assistance. 5. You must have a willing and able donor available. 

6. You must agree to follow all post-operative instructions from your transplant team.
