• In 1870, The Kuala Lumpur Hospital was developed as a district hospital comprising 3 wards i.e., the Tai Wah Ward, the Choudhry Ward and the Malay Ward.
• Today, Kuala Lumpur Hospital, a government owned hospital is the largest hospital under the Ministry of Health of Malaysia and is considered to be one of the biggest in Asia.
• The hospital has 53 different departments and units including 28 clinical departments and 12 clinical support services and has a capacity of 2300 beds.
